Major Prophets Reflection… due 11.19.07

Essential to the brilliance and eloquence of the Major Prophets is their ability to capture fanastic visual and poetic imagery in the words of their oracles. It is not only the passion and intensity of their message but the often captivating way in which they communicate their prophecy through vivid picture and expressive metaphors. For this next reflection, identify a specific image or metaphor that one of these prophets (Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Ezekiel) and expand upon it. In order to produce something of worth, first reflect and mediate on the significance of the image/metaphor and then identify a creative medium with which to explore the theme more in-depth. In an effort to help you prepare for next week’s mid-term, I have included here a comprehensive list of the key terms we have identified in class and an updated version of the notes, which now includes Judges and Ruth. I recommend you identify and define the key terms from your notes, and after the lecture on Monday I will answer questions about any that you can’t answer. Good luck studying!

Class Change 10.10.07

Hello class,

Unfortunately, due to a family emergency, I will not be able to be in class today. I would like, however, for you all to utilize this time to prepare for next Wednesday’s mid-term exam. As I have explained before, the Mid-term will draw from your Bible reading, textbook reading and class lectures. Find the attached lecture notes here to supplement your own notes. I recommend that you identify a few, at least, one study partner to review the material in the library or classroom for the duration of the normal hour that we meet. This means that we will not have a review day in class later on, so please make full use of this time. Also, identify items in the notes for clarification now, so that I can answer those questions in the next two meetings before the exam.
